Paintography and Watercolor Prints are the results of two processing styles I developed as the serendipitous results of experimenting with my photographs in Adobe Photoshop, using the visual equivalent of what is called “willing suspension of disbelief” in literature. Viewers often ask me if the Watercolor Prints are paintings. They are not paintings, but are digital happenings to flower and landscape images printed on watercolor paper.
The Paintography prints are digital collages of scores of pictures in layers, to make panoramic views of imaginary scenes. These labor-intensive creations spring from a “Eureka moment” when orchid, cacti, and cabbage photos became fish and coral in my imagination. Many of these collages appear to be underwater landscapes.
